Well what a summer it has been so far. I can’t thank the people involved enough, from the

musicians to the organisers to the people who come to the shows- you are all amazing!

Country Night Zimmerwald was just a joy to be at. They describe it as “klein, aber fein” and it really is that. The musicians could not believe that the festival site was usually a school… they even had a jail to capture the festival goers and performers, and administered their own home - made moonshine as “punishment”! The setting was stunning, and the atmosphere matched - if you have never been, it is highly recommended for both the music and the scenery.

Next up was an adventure in Scotland, where Robyn Red, Anton O’Donnell and John

Laufenberg were set to play the inaugural Solway Hoedown along with local Blue Grass

Band, Gallowgrass. We couldn’t have asked for a better week for our Texan fiddle player to get to know the locals and landscape in Dumfries and Galloway, and playing some warm up shows in Glasgow and a folk night in Newton Stewart. The Hoedown, again thanks to everyone involved was a dream and you can read all about it and see the photos HERE. It will be back next year too, bringing together Texan and Scottish musicians in a beautiful and relaxed setting so watch this space!

Now back in Switzerland and it’s almost time for the Aaron Goodvin tour and Kandertal

Country Festival this weekend, with Aaron headlining on Saturday night 15 th August. Ever since he played at Coco almost 3 years ago (and that hobby horse house concert, who could forget?!), we’ve been looking to get him back, and here we are! It is yet another pinch-me moment like to many over the last 2 months (especially now I can sit down long enough to write about them ). So we have shows on 13/08 Rothenburg, Luzern (Tickets on Eventfrog, 14/08 in Wil (St Gallen), 15 & 16/08 in Kandersteg and 18/08 in Wettingen …. Something to suit every location and budget.

And as soon as Aaron heads home, we have another treat in store. Matt Hodges from

Wakefield, UK who played at Kandertal last year is coming back for a long weekend of

shows, two of which will be as a Trio with Imbi Gassmann and Domenico Russo. Catch the Trio on 20/08 at Henry’s in Baden and 22/08 at Sprängi Bar in Fischental, Kanton Zurich, and one very special acoustic show in collaboration with Weingut Goldwand in Ennetbaden for Music and Wine on Friday 21 st August. Tickets are on sale now on Eventfrog.
